Seven times winning miler at 2 to 9 years including Premio Vittorio di Capua G1, the sound and talented SHAMALGAN had a racing career cut by two seasons at Stud, and he stood in several locations as a sire in France and abroad. Not an easy way to put his mark as a sire but, despite very limited opportunities (the IFCE French database indicates that he has only 122 foals including less than one hundred of racing age), he is already the sire of a classic winner !!!

Toskana Belle, her so talented daughter, won in impressive style the 2022 German Oaks – Preis der Diana G1, the most important race for three years-old fillies in Germany. Her dam Tristane, modest winner in south-west of France but out of the immediate family of classic sire KALDOUNÉVÉES, is a daughter of Top 2 years old TEOFILO whose pedigree is built on the famous and classic nick GALILEO x daughter of DANEHILL. Bloodlines to be offered as a priority number one to SHAMALGAN !

Effectively, TEOFILO who sired Critérium International G1 ace Loch Garman with a daughter of Giant’s Causeway, is confirming his genetic affinity with SHAMALGAN bloodline : he is also the damsire of Dreamloper, a Giant’s Causeway sireline champion who won both the Prix d’Ispahan G1 and the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp G1 in 2022. On his side, GALILEO is the damsire of Lea and the grandsire of the dam of Earthlight, two other G1 winners belonging to the Giant’s Causeway sireline !

Without any doubt, DANEHILL is an influent part of the maternal side of Toskana Belle pedigree, knowing that he is as well the grandsire of RAIL LINK, himself sire of the second dam of Aude who was second in Prix de Grand Camp (Listed) 2022. His genetic affinity with SHAMALGAN is as well confirmed by the fact that his own sire Footstepsinthesand sired the Matron St. G1 winner Chachamaidee with one of his daughters, and that his name can be found in the pedigree of Prix Maurice de Gheest G1 ace Marianafoot through Rock of Gibraltar as well as in the pedigrees of Group winners Brostaigh, Dragon Lips, I Am Superman, J Wonder, Pure Champion and Sent From Heaven !!!

On another hand, classic winning filly Toskana Belle is by a granddaughter of EXIT TO NOWHERE, a truely influent ancestor in dams pedigrees. Let’s remind that his a no less than a half brother to Champion 2yo colt MACHIAVELLIAN, damsire of Chef de Race Shamardal (a son of Giant’s Causeway) and of Group winners Living the Life and Minakshi who are both by Footstepsinthesand himself !

No doubt that the quest of this fast and precocious bloodline shall be more than useful, through Medicean, Dutch Art, Vettori or even DARK ANGEL whose damsire is Machiavellian. Machiavellian is of course a very influential son of MR PROSPECTOR whose genetic affinity with Giant’s Causeway is simply more than classic : no less then 36 G1 winners are out of this combination !!!

Eight times winner and Listed placed at 2, the good Anima Rock is by SHAMALGAN and a daughter of KINGSALSA, a variant of the Giant’s Causeway x KINGMAMBO nick that can be found in the pedigree of G1 winners Maids Causeway and Red Giant. Let’s finally underline the numerous references between Giant’s Causeway sireline and SEEKING THE GOLD (= 4 G1 winners fir this grandsire of DUBAWI), GONE WEST (= 3 G1 winners), FORTY NINER (same score), MISWAKI, WOODMAN (damsire or second damsire of 3 Group winners by Footstepsinthesand), and so on…

About inbred matings, it’s interesting to mention that close duplications of Giant’s Causeway are already successful, this combination being found in the pedigrees of US G1 winner Gunite (3×3) and G3 winner Sittin on Go (2×3). Bavaria Iron, a German winner by SHAMALGAN, has also been made out of this recipe. Giant’s Causeway is a own brother to Freud, Roar of the Tiger, Tiger Dance and Tumblebrutus, sires that are surely not too often in our mares pedigrees, but he is also a full brother to the dams of DECORATED KNIGHT, GLENEAGLES and TAJ MAHAL, three sires by Chef de Race Galileo.

But the most exciting inbreeding could be got by offering daughters of PEDRO THE GREAT to SHAMALGAN, a very nice way to duplicated in 3×3 the talented Glatisant, Prestige St. G3 winner at 2 in GB before foaling G1 winners Footstepsinthesand and Pedro the Great as well as the dam of Irish 2000 Guineas G1 and sire POWER (Oasis Dream), for a very promising mating option !

As a matter of fact, we shall surely not sideline the exceptional inbreeding solutions offered by highly influential Unfuwain, damsire of SHAMALGAN. Unfuwain is a son of Elite Mare Height of Fashion like Derby G1 winner NASHWAN and 4 times G1 winner NAYEF, sire of Tamayuz and grandsire of Sir Prancealot. Let’s remind that Height of Fashion is also the direct female ancestor to sires Mawatheeq and Hot Streak, and that her own dam Highclere, 1000 Guineas St. G1 and Prix de Diane G1 classic winner under royal colours, can be found in very good place in the pedigree of DEEP IMPACT (Sunday Silence) and JEREMY (Danehill Dancer).

By the way, we shall not forget that the Storm Cat x SUNDAY SILENCE nick is truly one of the most efficient genetic combination, with as a main result classic performers such as Karakontie on a direct way and Beauty Parlour and Study of Man in a reverse way.
